In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, we are inviting you to share your art with the theme of “Hope, Resilience, and Health Living.”
You may share your art with the following prompts:
- What is my personal experience with keeping good mental fitness and wellbeing?
- What gives me hope, joy, and inspiration?
- How can I encourage others with my art?

Art Contest Rules
ELIGIBILITY
All children and youth who reside in Los Angeles County.
AGE CATEGORIES
- 4-8 years of age inclusive
- 9-13 years of age inclusive
- 14-18 years of age inclusive
GUIDELINES / FORMAT
Artworks must be ORIGINAL drawings (no traced, trademarked, or copyrighted characters and slogans, e.g. Mickey Mouse, Sponge Bob, etc.). Also, do not copy other people’s ideas of artwork.
Art must be drawn on 11″ X 14” WHITE drawing paper, either portrait or landscape orientation. Artworks must be created in physical media, no use of digital tools or photography permitted. Acceptable media include pencil, pen, marker, crayon, watercolor, acrylic, oil, pastel, etc. Collage or cutout pictures are not allowed, and any materials or techniques that require special care in handling are not allowed.
Artwork must be created by the student only and be age appropriate. No assistance from family members or friends is permitted.
Only one piece of art may be submitted for each student artist.
HOW TO ENTER
There are 2 steps to complete the artwork registration process.
- Complete online entry form
- Mail in the original artwork with a printed copy of the completed entry form taped to the back of the artwork.
*You need to complete both steps to complete registration.
All artwork submissions and completed entry forms must be postmarked no later than May 22, 2023.

JUDGING CRITERIA
Theme/Idea (50%)
Interpretation and clarity of the theme “Hope, Resilience, and Healthy Living” to the viewer, as well as the creativity, originality and uniqueness of the illustrated theme.
Artistry (50%)
The design of the Artwork will be rated based on the theme in terms of composition, color and tone, balance, technique, and the overall impression.
WINNER NOTIFICATION
Winners will be selected by the first week of June and will be contacted by email. Winning artwork will be showcased and prizes will be presented at the award ceremony on June 11,2023.

4 types of awards in each age category:
- First Place (1): Certificate, $100 Gift Card
- Second Place (1): Certificate, $75 Gift Card
- Third Place (1): Certificate, $50 Gift Card
- Honorable Mention (5): Certificate, $25 Gift Card
USE RIGHTS
All submissions become the property of Heart Keeper, Inc. and may or may not be returned. Heart Keeper, Inc. has the right to use any submitted artwork and writings for promotional and educational use, including but not limited to display of the original or copies of a poster at exhibit events, publish on websites or videos, and reproduction of copies on promotional items such as t-shirts, postcards, website, calendars, bookmarks and book covers.
LIABILITY AND RIGHTS
- Participation in this art contest constitutes full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these official rules and the decisions of Contest Sponsors and Organizers, which is final and binding, by the entrant and his/her parent or legal guardian if the Contestant is under the age of 18.
- Contest Sponsors and Organizers do not endorse any submissions or messages expressed therein, and Contest Sponsors and Organizers expressly disclaim any and all liability in connection with the submitted Artworks, including disputes between collaborators related to a submission.
- Contest Sponsors and Organizers specifically prohibit any form of copyright-infringing activities or infringement of any other intellectual property rights, and Contest Sponsors and Organizers reserve the right to remove and disqualify any submission they deem to be in violation of another party’s copyright or other intellectual property rights.
- Contestants retain sole ownership of their original Artwork. The submission remains the intellectual property of the contestant, and the Contest Sponsors and Organizers make no claim of copyright as to the Artwork of any individual who enters this contest. Contestant specifically agrees to give the Contest Sponsors and Organizers permission to use all content submitted for purposes of judging the contest. Finalists and Winners will be required to grant Contest Sponsors and Organizers, with proper attribution through whatever means they deem appropriate, a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-
free, sub-licensable and transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of (such as slideshow or collage), and display the submission in any media formats and through any media channels in perpetuity in connection with the activities and operations of the contest. - Contestant assumes sole responsibility for the contest submission and the material contained in it, and for any consequences of submitting or posting it.
- Contest Sponsors and Organizers reserve the right at any time to verify the eligibility and validity of the entries and of Contestants, and have the right to disqualify any Contestant or entry deemed in their sole discretion not in compliance with these Official Contest Rules. Moreover, Contest Sponsors and Organizers reserve the right to request further documentation from Contestants to prove authenticity and authorship of the Artwork, eligibility and compliance with these Official Contest Rules.
- Contest Sponsors and Organizers reserve the right, at any time and in their sole discretion, to disqualify and/or deem ineligible any individual who they reasonably believe (i) has violated the Official Contest Rules; (ii) has violated the terms of use of platform, or (iii) is acting in a bad faith, or in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any other person.
- Contest Sponsors and Organizers reserve the right to modify, suspend, terminate, or cancel the contest at their discretion for any reason.
- Contestant and his/her parent or legal guardian agree to indemnify and hold harmless Contest Sponsors and Organizers, subsidiary and affiliated companies, officers, directors, employees, interns, and agents, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debts, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees) arising from (i) violation of these Official Contest Rules; (ii) violation of any third party right, including without limitation any copyright, trademark, intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other proprietary right in connection with the
contest; or (iii) any claim that a contest submission caused any harm, including financial, to any third party. These indemnifications and hold harmless obligations will survive indefinitely beyond the conclusion of the contest. - Contest Sponsors and Organizers assume no liability or responsibility for any loss or harm resulting from any user’s participation in or attempt to participate in the contest or ability or inability to upload, download, or otherwise access any information in connection with participating in the contest. Contest Sponsors and Organizers assume no responsibility or liability for technical problems, or technical malfunctions arising in connection with the operation of the contest, including: hardware or software errors; faulty computer, telephone, cable, satellite, network, electronic, wireless or Internet
connectivity, or other online communication problems; errors or limitations of any Internet service providers, servers, hosts or providers; garbled, jumbled or faulty data transmissions; failure of any email transmissions to be sent or received; lost, late, delayed or intercepted email transmissions; inaccessibility of the contest site in whole or in part for any reason; traffic congestion on the Internet or the contest site; unauthorized human or non-human intervention in the operation of the contest, including without limitation, unauthorized tampering, hacking, theft, virus, bugs, worms; or destruction of any aspect of the contest, or loss, miscount, misdirection, inaccessibility or unavailability of an email account used in connection with the contest. - Use of the contest’s site is at the user’s own risk. Contest Sponsors and Organizers are not responsible for any personal injury, property damage, or losses of any kind which may be sustained to computer equipment resulting from participation in the contest, use of the contest site or the downloading of information from the contest site. By participating in the contest, the Contestants and their parents or legal guardians release Contest Sponsors and Organizers from any and all claims arising from or relating to such Contestant’s participation in the contest, whether directly or indirectly.
- Contest Sponsors and Organizers are not liable in the event that any portion of the contest is canceled or delayed due to weather, fire, strike, acts of war or terrorism, or any other reason.
- By entering this contest, Contestant grants contest Sponsors and Organizers the right to use the submitted Artworks, pictures or videos taken at the award ceremony and at other related contest activities, including without limitation, rights to use on the web, broadcast, and print reproduction for the purposes of advertising and publicity. Contest Sponsors and Organizers may modify the image to fit any specific media.
